Luisella Farinotti è professoressa ordinaria di Film Studies e Estetica del cinema presso l’Università IULM di Milano. Si occupa di teoria e storia dell’immagine, in particolare del rapporto tra immagine e memoria, di scrittura del sé e film di famiglia; del ruolo degli oggetti nella scrittura filmica e del rapporto tra cinema e fotografia, con una speciale attenzione agli archivi fotografici utilizzati come grandi atlanti visivi. Suoi saggi sono apparsi in diverse riviste internazionali, tra cui Altre Modernità, Comunicazioni sociali, Comunicazione politica, Immagine, Cinergie (di cui è anche membro del comitato scientifico) e Cinéma & Cie (di cui è editor). Luisella Farinotti is Full Professor in Film Studies at IULM University, Milan, where she teaches Film Theory and Aesthetics of Cinema. Currently her research is focused on theory and history of the image, in particular on the relationship between cinema and memory, on audiovisual forms of self-writing and on home movies, on relationship between cinema and photography and on photographic archives as visual Atlas. She is a member of the editorial board of Cinéma & Cie. International Film Studies Journal and of the Scientific Board of Cinergie - Il cinema e le altre arti. She published many essays in journals and miscellaneous books. Her publications include Overlapping Images. Between Cinema and Photography (2016, eds., with B. Grespi and B.
