Barbara Grespi è professore associato presso l’Università degli Studi di Milano, dove insegna Teorie dell’immagine in movimento. Ha scritto saggi su corpo, gesto e memoria, sul rapporto fra cinema e fotografia, sulle teorie del montaggio. Tra le sue monografie: Cinema e montaggio (Carocci, 2010), Il cinema come gesto (Aracne, 2017); Figure del corpo (Meltemi, 2019), Dalla parte delle immagini (con Luca Malavasi, McGraw Hill, 2022). Ha curato i volumi: Memoria e immagini (Mondadori, 2009), Gus Van Sant (Marsilio, 2011), e co-curato: Harun Farocki (Mimesis 2017), Apparizioni (Aracne 2018), Bodies of Stone (AUP, 2020). È co-editor della rivista «Cinéma & Cie» e membro affiliato della ricerca ERC An-Icon, diretta da Andrea Pinotti e dedicata agli ambienti virtuali immersivi.

Barbara Grespi is associate professor at the Department of Philosophy “Piero Martinetti”, State University of Milan, where she teaches Theories of the image in motion. She has written extensively on the theme of gesture, on the relationship between cinema and photography, and on the theories of montage. Her most recent monographies include Cinema e montaggio (2010), Il cinema come gesto (2017), Figure del corpo (2019), Dalla parte delle immagini (with Luca Malavasi, 2022). She edited the books Memoria e immagini (2009) and Gus Van Sant (2011), and co-edited Harun Farocki (2017), Apparizioni (2018), Bodies of Stone in the Media, Visual Culture and the Arts (2020). She is editor of the journal «Cinema & Cie» and affiliated member of the ERC project: An-Icon. An-iconology: history, theory, and practices of environmental images.
